Tastings are such an interesting topic for us at A.W. Confections. As a consumer, you should taste and try the cake you will be purchasing. But our approach is a little different...
Since we are a private pastry business, we do not have cakes available everyday, in every flavor imaginable.
AND since we custom design cake flavors, there is no way we could every cake available even if we wanted.
Ideally we suggest you order a full size cake for an upcoming birthday, or special event. This way you get the full size and experience you would with the actual wedding cake.
So this is how are tastings work, we make you a small single layer cake to take and try. One flavor. We will torte this layer and filled it with a filling. If you want to try more than one flavor, there is an assessed charge of $7.50 per cake flavor.
We must know cake choice (s) at least 48 hours before meeting. Options can be found on Wedding cake page.
We do this charge because some customers want to try two or more flavors and we cannot give cakes away. We are already providing a service of the initial tasting. Also when we make that single layer for you we have to make as much batter as a full size cake, and we loose two thirds of the batters use.
Most customer do not need tastings as they have had my cake before and that is what has brought them to me in the first place.
