Wheatleigh Gingerbread Contest

In 2004 Wheatleigh in Lenox, MA  hosted its first Annual Gingerbread Contest.  Anyone could enter.  There are three categories,  Youth, Amateur, and Professional.

Houses are auctioned off during a Silent Auction in which proceeds go to a Berkshire County Food Pantry.  The only condition to the contest is entire project MUST be completely edible.   On average there have been around 40 entries.

In 2005 We won FIRST PRIZE in the PROFESSIONAL category.

In 2006,  Andrea was asked to be an expert judge of the contest.  Thoroughly thrilled,  she accepted.  Andrea had an entry 75% finished at the time.  She finished the Gingerbread House and donated it to the auction.  Although it could not be entered in the competition it was hailed as one of the best entries there.  This is that house.

2006 Massachusetts State House

This Massachusetts State House Gingerbread house was purchased at auction.  The new owner donated the house to the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, MA.  She wanted to share the grandeur with all during the holiday season.   The house was displayed among the many uniquely designed 'Festival of Trees.'  We were truly honored by this occurrence.

There was over over 70lbs of homemade gingerbread, royal icing candy, sugar windows, white chocolate Christmas trees, and gold toned fondant. Pillars were made out of rolled fondant.  There was also over 70 mini lights that filled the confection with light and warmth.  Click here for more pictures

Gingerbread house measured 42x32 with building, trucks, and sign.  It was over 30 inches in height.

In 2004,  Our first ever gingerbread house was made.  We entered in the Amateur category.  We definitely should have been in professional.  We remedied that in 2005.   Below is a picture of our 2004 gingerbread house,  Lee Bank

Wait til you see what we have for next year!!!
